A long and vital tradition in Romania and Romanian diasporas, singing colinde is a centuries-old caroling tradition that is listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Violinist, ethnomusicologist, and The Romanian Colinde Project founder Colleen Bertsch partners with the Twin Cities’ favorite Balkan party band Orkestar Bez Ime and the Heritage Organization of Romanian Americans in Minnesota, to create this album of newly arranged Romanian colinde, sung by members of the Ciprian Porumbescu Choir of Minnesota.
